eDNA - qPCR Processing

Example qPCR standard curve used to derive a relationship between the DNA quantity and the cycle of quantification.

In the case of qPCR a standard curve of synthetic target DNA is run alongside the samples. In this standard curve, standards of a known concentration of gene copies are added at a variety of concentrations and the cycle of quantification (Cq) is recorded. This Cq value can then be related back to the gene copies in that standard to create a relationship between Cq value and gene copies per uL of the qPCR reaction.
