The study metadata file collates the field and lab metadata. This is a spreadsheet that contains all the attributes of each sample collected during the survey (eDNA samples + Field blanks + Lab blanks). Each sample has a unique row in this spreadsheet, and columns contain the sample metadata collected during your field survey (e.g. information about where, when, and how each sample was collected) and while processing your samples in the lab.
